Trophy Export Rules

Hunters must follow strict CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species) and Pakistan Customs regulations to legally export hunting trophies. Below are the key rules and procedures: 

CITES Permits (Mandatory for Protected Species)

  • Species Requiring CITES Export Permits:   
    • Markhor (All subspecies)   
    • Himalayan Ibex   
    • Blue Sheep (Bharal)   
    • Snow Leopard (Fully banned – no export allowed)   
  • Process:   
    • Step 1: Outfitter applies for CITES permit from Pakistan’s Ministry of Climate Change.   
    • Step 2: Submit hunting license, trophy photos, and veterinary certificate.   
    • Step 3: Wait 10-15 days for approval.   

Veterinary & Customs Clearance

  • Health Certificate: Required for all trophies (prevents disease spread).   
  • Taxidermy Rules:   
    • Skulls must be boiled/cleaned.   
    • Hides must be salted/dried.   
  • Customs Declaration:   
    • Submit CITES permit + invoice at airport.   
    • Pay export duty (varies by species).

    • Air Cargo (Emirates, Qatar Airways – Islamabad/Karachi airports).   
    • Freight Forwarder (Recommended for large trophies).
